A humble beginning

"The Lord God said, "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him"... For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." ~ Genesis 2: 18, 24 ~

I'm entering into a new stage in life. A stage where I am no longer just me but I will be one with another. So much of it excites me while parts of it worry me as well.

I attend premarital counseling with Dave. We have only been three times and have about three more times to go before our wedding day. And it is a wonderful time to learn and understand things that we have no yet faced. It helps put things into a realistic perspective.

Yesturday, our topic of discussion was problem solving. For homework, we had to write out some of the problem we have faced for far and how we solved the problem. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful pastor to teach us. As we spoke he really made the teaching from God come to life about what it is to love and what it is to communicate. It is so sad that so many relationships end for the sole reason of lack of communication. Don't let my word choice make it seem any less serious than it is. Communication is key to a functional relationship and without it, a marriage quickly turns from one of two people adoring one another to two people wishing the other person would leave for an extended time so we could have so peace and quite.

I pray that Dave and I would learn to master communication. It isn't easy and we are both already aware of the fact that there will be really challenging times in our marriage. We look forward to facing them with the knowledge that God will be in on all our actions and ready to strengthen us in all our troubles.
